How to Use Input System Package in Unity
Unity’s new Input System Package provides a more flexible and efficient way to handle user input in your games. In this blog post, we will guide you through the process of setting up and using this powerful tool.
Step 1: Installing the Input System Package
Start by opening the Unity Editor and creating a new project or opening an existing one. Go to the Package Manager window and search for “Input System”. Click the “Install” button to add the package to your project.
Step 2: Setting Up Input Actions
Once the package is installed, you need to define input actions. Create a new Input Actions Asset by right-clicking in the Project window, then navigate to Create -> Input Actions. Define the actions you want to handle, such as “Move”, “Jump”, or “Fire”.
Step 3: Binding Inputs to Actions
After defining the actions, you need to bind them to input devices. This can be done through the Input Actions window. Assign keys, buttons, or axes to each action based on your game’s requirements.
