Pillow wrapping machines play a crucial role in the packaging industry, ensuring the secure and efficient encasement of various products. However, like any machinery, they may encounter occasional problems that can disrupt production and impact efficiency. This article provides comprehensive troubleshooting guidance to resolve common issues with pillow wrapping machines, enabling operators and technicians to identify and rectify these problems swiftly.

Bag Feeding Issues

Bag Misalignment: Check if the bag is correctly aligned on the feed roller. Adjust the guide rails or the infeed belt to ensure proper bag alignment.

Bag Tearing: Inspect the bag cutting knife for sharpness and alignment. Ensure that the bag is taut before cutting to prevent tearing.

Bag Jamming: Verify that the bag magazine or hopper is correctly filled and free of obstructions. Check the feed conveyor for jams and remove any foreign objects.

Sealing Problems

Poor Seal Quality: Ensure adequate heating of the sealing jaws. Check the temperature settings and calibrate the jaws if necessary. Clean the sealing surfaces to remove any debris.

Seal Leakage: Inspect the sealing belt for wear and tear. Replace any worn or damaged sections to prevent leakage. Verify the pressure applied by the sealing jaws and adjust accordingly.

Seal Wrinkling: Ensure that the bag is taut before sealing to prevent wrinkles. Adjust the tension on the infeed and outfeed conveyors to maintain consistent bag tension.

Product Feeding Issues

Product Misalignment: Check if the product is correctly positioned on the infeed conveyor. Adjust the conveyor guides or use a product pusher to align the products.

Product Damage: Reduce the speed of the infeed conveyor to prevent damage to delicate products. Ensure that the product pusher or feeding mechanism is gentle on the products.

Product Jamming: Clean the infeed chute and conveyor belt to remove any debris or product buildup. Adjust the conveyor speed and pusher pressure to optimize product flow.

Electrical Problems

Motor Overheating: Inspect the motor for any obstructions or excessive load. Check the motor connections and ensure proper voltage supply. Consider providing adequate cooling or ventilation.

Electrical Short Circuit: Turn off the machine and disconnect the power supply. Check for any damaged wires or connections. Seek professional electrical assistance to identify and repair the short circuit.

PLC Failure: Verify that the PLC program is functioning correctly. Reset the PLC or replace the program if necessary. Check the input and output devices connected to the PLC for proper operation.
